Collection of 9 Spanish manuscript documents, including several apparently unpublished works. Includes a contemporary copy
of the Spanish version of Josef Nicolás de Azara's account of deliberation in the Vatican on the canonization of Juan de Palafox
y Mendoza (1600-1659), bishop of Pueblo de Los Angeles in Mexico and enemy of the Jesuits. According to Palau, who lists only
the Italian translation (20096), no printed copy of the Spanish is extant. Another document also involves the Jesuit order,
being a historical account of Jesuits in Portugal that concentrates on the years of persecution (members of the order were
finally expelled in 1759). Another concerns the persecution of the philosopher Raymond Llull (1235?-1315), advocating a continuance
of royal favor of the "Culto del Beato Ramon Llull."
